The Costalegre is home of thousands of species of plants and animals with extremely high rates of endemism (species that are only found in this bioregion). Its expansive tropical deciduous forests are the most threatened tropical ecosystem on the planet. Much of its biodiversity is protected in the nearby Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve, only 15 minutes north of us.

Sea Turtle & Military Macaw Conservation Programs

Future Military Macaw reintroduction is one of our conservation projects, and we have been protecting sea turtles at Playa Grande from predators for three years running. Your investment in Ekoa Green Community® supports our efforts to protect these endangered species.

I’m a long-time advocate and activist for sustainable living and conservation on The Costalegre. In 2000 I started an eco-tourism company in La Manzanilla, Jalisco. I founded the environmental non-profit organization Tierralegre in 2008 and began building professionally with bamboo in 2010.

Ekoa Green Community® is a culmination of my vision, skills and passion which I look forward to sharing with you!

I am a life coach, author and retired professor of environmental education from Humboldt State University in California. I began running conservation classes on The Costalegre in 2000 and have been in love with the people and the place ever since then. I have started and directed a number of NGO’s focused on conservation and community development in the U.S.
